Maintenance Planner devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Maintenance Planner work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.   • ROLE PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY

    The role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts and material, and equipment access. The Maintenance Planner will facilitate Opportunity-based work by having materials kitted and tasks available for short or no-notice shutdowns of individual equipment or rooms. Responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordination of all plannable maintenance work performed within the facility. Responsible for maintenance of records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance-related matters and for keeping all files necessary to comply with all Federal, State, and Local regulations. This position will coordinate all outside services such as forklift repair, AC repair etc.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for planning of maintenance activities that support Production and associated areas.
    • Regular analysis of backlog relative to available resources.
    • Ensures that all internal beneficiaries of Maintenance receive timely, efficient and quality service
    • Help Operations balance their need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through proactive maintenance.
    • Familiar with CMMS system and how it works within the plant.
    • Uses software needed for creating Visual Work Instructions, job plans, estimating jobs and maintaining the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
    • Creates and maintains Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks list for each asset to ensure optimal machine uptime and performance
    • Able to effectively navigate and manage the CMMS work order backlog to create schedules.
    • Maintain materials and equipment in a neat and orderly fashion.
    • Create recommended critical spare parts lists and stocking quantities for Maintenance Parts by utilizing CMMS.
    • Must be knowledgeable of plant equipment, operations, and maintenance activities.
    • Work with plant operations team, production schedulers, and maintenance supervisors to schedule all maintenance work for the department based on established priorities and craftsperson availability.
    • Effectively lead daily and weekly PM scheduling meetings.
    • Work with vendors and contractors, in the performance of assigned duties.
    • Coordinate all outside services such as forklift repair, AC repair etc.
    • Verify work order inventory, collect parts needed for work order completion and pre-stage parts for work orders (job packages) in the staging area.
    • Will incorporate safety into all aspects of the position.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS/ CAPABILITY PROFILE

    Minimum Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Undergraduate degree desired
    • OSHA Powered Industrial equipment training and pass associated tests, if required

    Minimum Experience

    • 1 year of experience in a food manufacturing facility
    • 1 year of experience in purchasing or similar duties
    • 1 year of experience in interacting with customers / Customer service
    • Forklift certificate or satisfactory completion of a forklift-training program within the first 30 days of employment, if required

    Minimum Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively interact with various employees throughout the plant
    • Demonstrates influential leadership, decision making, and the ability to efficiently manage people and production needs.
    • Business minded, people and results-oriented, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.
    • Self-starter, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
    • Working knowledge of computer software tools to include word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.
    • Maintenance background with exposure to a wide variety of maintenance areas, including, but not limited to, power transmission, equipment installation, pump systems, fabrication and lubrication.
    • Capable of working with vendors and holding them accountable for high levels of service with regard to availability, delivery and quality of items received.
    • Reliable and self-motivated. Regular and predictable attendance is mandatory
    • Willing to work various hours and days as necessary to support the plant.
    • Ability to read and interpret equipment and plant prints, and mechanical and electrical drawings
    • Knowledgeable in warehouse concepts, spare parts inventory and procurement procedures
    • Understanding of periodic maintenance schedules, concepts and procedures to increase equipment lifespan
