As an IT Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the IT department within Ursa Major. This position will oversee Service Desk, Infrastructure & Systems, and datacenter equipment management, while providing strategic direction, technical guidance, and operational support.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of Service Desk, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of IT support requests.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Service Desk operations.
- Monitor Service Desk performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage the Service Desk team, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
Datacenter and System Administration
- Provide technical leadership to the Infrastructure & Systems team.
- Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of critical IT systems and infrastructure.
- Manage the implementation, operation and maintenance of digital systems, including servers, storage systems, networking devices, and databases.
- Manage the procurement and installation of datacenter equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to datacenter infrastructure.
IT Strategy
- Develop and implement the strategy for Service Desk and Infrastructure & Systems, aligning both departments with overall business objectives.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to support business growth and innovation.
- Manage the budget for Service Desk and Infrastructure & Systems and allocate resources effectively.
Team Leadership
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Encourage professional development and continuous learning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in IT management, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong technical skills in network administration, server management, and database management.
- Experience with datacenter infrastructure and operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Desired Skills:
- Certifications in IT management, such as ITIL or PMP.
- Knowledge of cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
- Experience communicating effectively both written and orally.
- Ability to break down complex problems into simple explanations.
- Ability to work with various teams from multiple disciplines on time sensitive issues while effectively prioritize items as necessary.
- Familiarity with engineering terms and processes.
- Eagerness to learn and willingness to take on problems without hesitation.
Additional Notes:
- The IT Manager will report to the Director of Digital Operations.
- The position may require occasional travel.
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $110,000 - $140,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
