The Santa Fe Opera is seeking a Major Gifts Officer
Reports to the Director of Development
Are you a dynamic and seasoned development professional with a passion for the arts? Join our team as a Major Gifts Officer and play a pivotal role in securing significant contributions that support our mission. We are seeking an individual who is not only skilled in fundraising but also has a deep appreciation for music and opera.
Key Responsibilities:
- Donor Engagement: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors capable of making gifts of $10,000 and above.
- Proposal Writing: Craft compelling funding proposals to secure financial support.
- Strategic Development: Collaborate with the development team and Board’s Development Committee to increase the number of major donors.
- Event Planning: Organize cultivation events to connect donors with artists, staff, and board members both locally and out of town.
- Planned Giving: Oversee the opera’s planned giving society and solicit planned gifts.
- Travel: Visit major donors and prospects across various locations including New York, California, and Texas.
- Database Management: Utilize Tessitura software to track donor interactions and build prospect lists.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably in an arts organization.
- Proven success in securing gifts of $10,000 and above.
- Experience with relational fundraising databases; Tessitura experience is a plus.
- Background in music or opera is highly preferred.

Working Conditions:
- This full-time, year-round position requires flexibility in hours due to travel and event attendance. No vacation is allowed from June 1 to August 31 annually.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
