Mammography Technologist operates specialized X-ray equipment and performs various mammography related procedures including screenings and diagnostic studies. Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion. Being a Mammography Technologist creates and maintains patient records and files according to required procedure. Cleans and adjusts equipment as needed. Additionally, Mammography Technologist requires an associate degree or completion of a formal radiologic technology training program. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)Diagnostic Mammography. Mammography Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The Mammography Technologist positions patients to ensure that the best images of breast tissue are achieved. The Technologist must have solid, customer service and interpersonal skills including empathy, compassion and professional interactions with patients, customers and co-workers. Uses reasonable independent judgment and decision making skills to carry out established procedures. Good working knowledge of MQSA, ACR and FDA standards as they relate to mammography.

Reports directly to the Radiology Supervisor and indirectly to the Director of Radiology..

PHYSICAL, MENTAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Majority of time spent on feet, with a substantial amount of walking, pushing, lifting and positioning of patients. Employee must be able to adjust to the routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting department flow. Requires the ability to frequently move or lift objects heavier than 50 pounds with assistance and perform moderately difficult manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination skills, see objects closely, walk and stand for prolonged periods, and hear normal sounds with some background noises. The employee is required to, and as needed, wear protective lead gloves, lead aprons, and universal precaution equipment. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The majority of the time is spent in a well-lighted and well vented environment. Subject to normal occupational hazards for employees in radiological work, employees may occasionally be exposed to body tissues, blood and body fluids. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
California Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $28.03 to $54.95 per hour.
