Management Development Manager leads and directs the creation of a leadership development strategy and programs that align with strategic business imperatives and develop management capabilities throughout the workforce. Identifies, designs, and develops frameworks that represent skills and leadership capabilities critical to long-term and short-term objectives. Being a Management Development Manager aligns training, coaching, professional development, and experiential assignments to the leadership development strategy. Develops approaches to engage individuals in well-defined and ongoing career development. Additionally, Management Development Manager define career paths and supporting training and development programs. Fosters a culture of informal knowledge exchange, coaching, and training to engage and develop the workforce. Conducts periodic succession planning and talent assessments to ensure critical roles are defined. Creates slates of individuals identified for leadership development activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Management Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Management Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Verizon Business Group Technology Solutions team is on the lookout for a Manager to work on the technical product delivery of wireless and wireline solutions, platforms, and tools. This dynamic role involves managing the continuous evolution of cutting-edge technologies and services. You'll work in close collaboration with diverse teams, including Product Management, IT, Engineering, Marketing, and Operations, to prioritize and implement scalable solutions.


    The candidate will work on the prioritization between architecting solutions that scale and prioritize to meet short-term needs, across the broad set of services provided by Verizon and key partners, such as Software as a Service and cloud platform partners. You will own understanding of the technical challenges, defining requirements and roadmaps, and driving implementation with our internal and external development partners. You will report to the Associate Director of Integrated Connectivity.

    Responsibilities:

    •     Define the product, and make the judgment trade-offs between features and time-to-market.

    •     Author documents relating to product life cycle including product roadmap, business requirements and functional specifications. 

    •     Drive product development across teams (primarily Engineering, Operations, Product Management, Business Development, and Marketing) through business requirements, design, implementation, and deployment.

    •     Understand operational and management services, including aspects of compliance management, cost control, automation, devops, patch management and automation framework.

    •     Works across multiple regions/geographies and teams to develop and/or implement road-mapped services, solutions, or programs and associated processes to meet emerging customer requirements.

    •     Deliver integrated solutions supporting Verizon products that reside on or interact with the technology portfolio including models for linking services that are exposed to internal and external application developers.

    •     Development includes network, security,  compute, and automation services.  

    •     Support other technology solutions teams including peers in accomplishing their tasks as needed.

    •     Conceptualize and develop technical resolutions to complex market challenges and customer use cases that require the use of creativity.

    Need to Have:

    • “Must be a current participant of the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program or of the Hiring our Heroes Fellowship Programs”

    • Bachelor’s in Engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field

    • 5 years of relevant work experience

    Even better if you have one or more of the following:

    • Knowledge of Cloud technologies, telecoms and IoT Business Models

    • Knowledge of emerging technologies (AI/ML, AR/VR, blockchain, robotics, IoT, etc.)

    • Exceptional planning, coordination, and execution skills.

    • Ability to negotiate, influence, manage and drive action

    • Ability to manage and direct large project / program teams

    • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.

    • Experience shaping product strategy, prioritization, and specification

    • The ability to actively participate in development reviews and basic user story development

    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects across functional teams, including product management, marketing, finance, legal and technical teams

    • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

    • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically 

    • Makes decisions that impact projects and staff members

    • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives of assignments

    • Ability to work to completion without direction

    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills - ability to use data to develop and measure go to market programs

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Experience in telecommunication architecture, software development, or technical product management
