Management Development Manager leads and directs the creation of a leadership development strategy and programs that align with strategic business imperatives and develop management capabilities throughout the workforce. Identifies, designs, and develops frameworks that represent skills and leadership capabilities critical to long-term and short-term objectives. Being a Management Development Manager aligns training, coaching, professional development, and experiential assignments to the leadership development strategy. Develops approaches to engage individuals in well-defined and ongoing career development. Additionally, Management Development Manager define career paths and supporting training and development programs. Fosters a culture of informal knowledge exchange, coaching, and training to engage and develop the workforce. Conducts periodic succession planning and talent assessments to ensure critical roles are defined. Creates slates of individuals identified for leadership development activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Management Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Management Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     As we continue to grow our portfolio, we are looking to acquire stabilized class B apartments and develop new apartment communities through adaptive reuse projects. We pride ourselves on revitalizing existing structures to create innovative and sustainable living spaces. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Development and Construction Manager to oversee the development and construction of apartment communities and hotel to apartment conversions.
    Position Overview
    We are looking for a skilled Development and Construction Manager who possesses a strong background in construction management, particularly in multifamily and adaptive reuse projects. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team through all phases of the development process, from initial planning and design to construction and project closeout. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
    Responsibilities
    1. Project Planning and Development:
      • Solicit RFPs for architectural/MEP/structural engineering and work with selected firms to refine the concept plans.
      • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
      • Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
    2. Design and Permitting:
      • Work closely with architects, engineers, and designers to develop innovative and cost-effective design solutions.
      • Coordinate the permitting process and ensure compliance with building codes, regulations and zoning.
    3. Construction Management:
      • Oversee all construction activities, including contractor selection, procurement, and scheduling.
      • Monitor project progress and quality control to ensure adherence to project specifications and timelines.
    4. Budget and Cost Management:
      • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and expenditures.
      • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement value engineering solutions when appropriate.
      • Review and approve change orders and payment requests.
    5. Stakeholder Communication:
      • Conduct premortem meeting at the beginning of each project to identify potential future risks.
      • Provide regular project updates and address any concerns or issues in a timely manner.
    6. Project Closeout:
      • Coordinate final inspections, punch lists, and occupancy permits.
      • Conduct post-project evaluations and lessons learned sessions to identify areas for improvement.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management, ideally with a focus on multifamily or adaptive reuse projects.
    • Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction best practices.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Deadline and detail-oriented
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
    • PMP or similar certification is a plus.
