Managing Attorney is responsible for managing the daily operations of a law firm or an organization's legal department. Provides leadership and participates in the most complex legal actions. Being a Managing Attorney directs law office operations, case assignments, and staffing. Oversees the activities and work products of subordinate attorneys. Additionally, Managing Attorney monitors case status, timelines, and issues. Mentors and coaches attorneys and implements staff professional development programs. Requires a JD. Requires State Bar membership. Typically reports to top legal executive. The Managing Attorney manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Managing Attorney typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. JOB DESCRIPTION: Candidate should be a member in good standing of the SC Bar, preferably have experience in closing real estate transactions, and have the capacity to run all aspects of a standalone office, including business development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Oversee all residential and commercial real estate transactions in the office, including residential and commercial sales and refinances

- Work with lenders, brokers, agents, buyers and sellers to facilitate real estate transactions
- Draft and/or review loan documents including contracts, deeds, leases, and purchase and sale agreements
- Deliver a professional and engaging experience to clients and address any lingering questions or concerns they may have
- Review disbursement ledger and sign checks
- Develop, cultivate and grow business relationships for the firm
- Conduct training for potential clients in relevant areas of real estate law
- Manage supporting staff
REQUIREMENTS- Residential real estate experience preferred - will train the right candidate
- Member of the South Carolina State Bar (in good standing)
- Excellent and prompt verbal/written communication skills and ability to work well with others
- Self-starter, capable of office management, business development, community involvement, and achieving results
- Growth-minded, with a Residential focus
- Strong work ethic demonstrated in academics and work history
- Able to manage a support staff
