Manufacturing Cost Accountant jobs in Manchester, NH

We are actively looking for individuals that are passionate about making a difference and have a hybrid opportunity for a Cost Accountant to join our Finance team in Manchester, NH. The US Reference Materials Cost Accountant will be responsible for supporting fast growing operations in Manchester, NH & Charleston, SC. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role requires strong analytical skills and an ability to communicate with various levels of senior management to drive our core purpose Science for a Safer World. Candidate must possess working knowledge of US GAAP, have prior experience working with manufacturing modules of ERP systems, and a strong understanding of manufacturing process and cost accounting to accurately report cost of manufactured goods.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Perform month end close duties related to inventory/cost of goods sold and fixed assets/depreciation including preparation of journal entries and related reporting
• Provide management support for capital investments through NPV analysis (above threshold criteria) and setup of fixed asset objects to track investments and drive depreciation postings
• Design, implement and refine cost accounting policies satisfactory to US GAAP requirements for a niche production environment
• Prepare analysis of Key Performance Indicators for management across multiple product lines (scrap rates, slow mover analysis, inventory turns & days on hand analysis, and labor absorption to supplement capacity utilization metrics)
• Responsible for calculating annual direct labor and manufacturing overhead recovery rates to be applied in SKU level costing
• Partner with local Production, R&D, and Financial leadership to provide reporting, analysis and guidance on inventory and product profitability trends
• Monthly reconciliation of inventory and fixed asset sub ledgers to General Ledger across three legal entities
• Assist in the preparation of annual audit procedures related to inventory and fixed assets
• Support of Physical inventory counts (daily cycle counts & annual wall to wall) by providing variance analysis to Site Operations Management team
• Research, analyze and inform relevant business and finance partners on inventory related questions by analyzing and interpreting transactional data flows
• Adhoc reporting/analysis/projects as required

Education & Experience

• 5 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Experience with manufacturing ERP software required
• CPA or CMA certification required
