Job Description
Internship availability in our Technical Engineering team. This is a great opportunity for current college students who are looking to gain on-the-job experience while working for a first-class composite manufacturing company.
This is a project-based internship that will focus on material characterization and process improvement. Duties will include project development and execution, data collection and management, and material handling.
This is a paid position ($27.50 per hour) lasting 3 months with flexible start and end dates depending on relevant academic calendars. Work will follow a standard Monday through Friday, 8:00 am. to 4:30 pm. work schedule, with occasional call-ins during non-scheduled times. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Job Duties
Jointly responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and implementing safe operating procedures to ensure an accident-free record.
Participate in the activities of the Technical R&D group by performing tests, production experiments, and collecting data involved in better understanding material-process-property relationships.
Support other Engineers and learn various processing, testing, and data analysis techniques.
Organize test samples and supplies in preparation for tests, and then perform tests in accordance with industry specifications.
Work closely with Production, Quality, and Research departments to generate and collect data by performing various tests and tasks, then interpreting and explaining the results to management as required.
Produce high quality informal reports on a weekly basis, including a formal mid-term and final summary report.
Qualifications
Candidates should be working towards a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or chemistry discipline, ideally with an emphasis in polymers and/or composites.
A minimum of 2 years of college education is required.
Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Lab experience, hands-on experience with composites, and experience with CAD/FEA software is a plus.
