New Model/UPS Engineering Technician
The primary purpose of the position is to manage and support new model activities. The position will also assist production as directed by the New Model Manager. Must be willing to Travel – Domestically / Internationally. This Position also includes, but are not limited to, those set forth below.
This position is expected to move between New Model/UPS and other Engineering division departments at the direction of supervision. This skill-rotation concept is intended to return a high level of experience and knowledge to production support departments after a new model launch
Essential Duties and Responsibilities-New Model/UPS Engineering Technician
· Assist quality with part type layout and changes made to all parts.
· Work with and support manufacturing and engineering departments as directed by the New Model Manager.
· Must have a strong ability to understand and change PLC and Robot programs. Robot teaching is a must.
· Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve.
· Ability to operate forklifts and manlifts safely.
· Work safely and ensure equipment function meets ANSI and OSHA requirements. Maintain a safe work environment.
· Must have regular attendance and flexible work hours.
· Must be able to work in a team environment.
· Assist in preparations and execution of various required meetings.
· Work with and direct contractors and vendors.
· Update and submit new model documentation to customers.
· Update and manage tasks to a schedule.
· Accountable to control manufacturing parts to local and customer standards.
· Be able to perform effective fixture and driver checks, follow 4M system.
· Carry out tooling confirmation checks such as UES-QA0015.
· Conduct time studies as directed by management.
· Design, modify and install new and transferred tooling as needed.
· Understand customer Minimum process requirements and ensure compliance of MPR standards prior to SOP.
· Compile RFQ (request for quote) data for prototype event builds to determine Maker Layout including Budgeting for each model.
· Must be able to travel by various modes. Must be able to travel internationally.
· Support and perform audits, both internal and external to UPAL

Education and/or Experience
Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Power Point). Proficient with AutoCAD, Catia and design software packages.
Other Skills and Abilities
· General understanding of process capabilities and functions.
· Mechanically inclined
· Ability to read/interpret Blueprints
· Ability to make components to Blueprint (order material, weld, machine, fabricate, etc.)
· Electrical theory or knowledge.
· General understanding of process flow and manufacturing.
· Strong knowledge of PLC and Robotics.
Other
Understanding of the HES system to create appropriate documents. Associates Degree in Engineering. Certified trained for PFMEA. Certified Trained as Ultrasonic Verification Operator. Certified trained as Catia Operator. Drafting experience. Circle grid application and reading. Statistical Process Controls knowledge and implementation. Class A stampings and welding experience. Aluminum Stamping experience. Hot Stamp welding experience. Parts procurement experience. Initiating and maintaining quality sorts. High Tensile Strength Steel stamping experience.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to walk and stand on feet for extended periods of time, lift up to 50lbs unassisted and anything above with the use of a proper lifting device. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear at
moderate noise levels. The associate is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment will include constantly working near moving mechanical parts, occasional exposure to fumes and electric shock. Moderate to loud noise exposure occasionally. Ear, eye, head, foot, hand and arm protection is required.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
