Manufacturing Manager plans, schedules, and manages one or more manufacturing production processes. Incorporates organization-wide operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs into manufacturing processes. Being a Manufacturing Manager monitors production metrics, responds to and resolves problems. Assists with planning and directing an efficient layout of equipment and flow of materials. Additionally, Manufacturing Manager collaborates with leaders to manage and resolve workforce or labor issues and develop solutions. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Manufacturing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Job Purpose / Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Hands on position occasionally requires supervisor to assist in production of products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Setting daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicating them to employees
· Organizing workflow by assigning responsibilities and priorities while maintaining production schedule
· Overseeing and coaching employees
· Promote and maintain Lean environment
o Note, currently work environment is NOT lean at all and will be looking to implement in 2023 and advancing in coming years
· Maintain and promote positive work environment
· Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
· Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
· Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards.
· Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to President for action.
· Ensure the safe use of equipment and schedule regular maintenance
· Check production output according to specifications
· Submit reports on performance and progress
· Identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements
· Train new employees on how to safely use machinery and follow procedures
· Enforce strict safety guidelines and company standards
Skills and Qualifications:
· Proven experience as Production Supervisor or similar role
· Great written and verbal communication
· Ability to work with all level of employees
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Computers skills
o Microsoft Office
o AutoCAD not necessary but a plus
o Mfg. ERP system
· Welding experience with MIG, and Stick preferred. Tig not necessary
· CNC Machine maintenance and program knowledge required.
· Able to supervise outside contractors who perform machine installation, maintenance and repairs.
· Good driving record - CDL not required, but experience driving with a trailer preferred.
· Forklift experience required.
