Purpose: The CIC assists waiver participants who are experiencing significant problems managing the emotional responses inherent to adjusting to a significant physical or cognitive disability while living in the community.   

Essential Functions:

• Provide Counseling Services as established by NHTD and TBI manuals.
• Establish a professional relationship with participants and ensure their self-directed services are provided.
• Ensure proper review and submission of all required documentation for billing.
• Attend all agency team meetings. 

Education and Experience:

• Licensed Psychiatrist – Licensed by the NYS Education Dept. or;
• Licensed Psychologist – Licensed by the NYS Education Dept. or;
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master of Social Worker (LMSW) or;
• Doctorate Degree in Psychology or;
• Master of Social Work or;
• Master of Psychology or;
• Licensed Mental Health Practitioner – Licensed by the NYS Education Dept. or;
• Certified Rehabilitation Counselor – Certified by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification, 

And

• Must have, at a minimum, two (2) years of experience providing adjustment-related counseling to individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury and their families and/or seniors with physical and/or cognitive disabilities and their families.
