This Director of Marketing is responsible for setting the strategy for marketing at the university, developing an integrated marketing plan, and managing the implementation of marketing tactics. This person oversees the way we tell the university's story to internal and external audiences through various platforms. The position requires a deep understanding of strategic marketing, market research, segmentation, targeting, positioning, digital marketing, social media marketing, content development, and graphic design. This position includes oversight of the team responsible for content development, web development, publications, and social media. The successful candidate will be creative and visionary, have the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, possess exceptional management skills, and be a good communicator.

Responsibilities:

• Develop the marketing strategy for the university through collaboration with all key stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, administration, trustees, and alumni)
• Oversee the teams responsible for content development, web development, publications, and social media to implement the strategic marketing plan and ensure that we tell a consistent and compelling story about the university
• Collaborate with the admission team to develop materials, messaging, and tactics that drive enrollment growth for the university
• Collaborate with the advancement team to develop materials, messaging, and tactics that support fundraising goals
• Collaborate with the Chief Communications Officer to advance the brand reputation of the university
• Support the marketing needs of departments across campus
• Manage the marketing budget and monitor the effectiveness of marketing initiatives to utilize resources for the greatest ROI
• Participate in key university initiatives that require marketing input and support
• Manage vendor relationships to ensure effective use of marketing resources

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
• Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading a marketing team with a track record of success
• Good people leader who can build a culture of trust
• Knowledge of effective marketing strategies that could be applicable to higher ed
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Strong customer service orientation
• Self-motivated and able to motivate others to achieve goals
