  • The UAS Sitka Campus is seeking a SUPPORT Specialist to join our Title III grant team's effort in fulfilling a mission of providing extra support to mostly online students, especially nontraditional, first-generation, and historically undersupported students.

As a SUPPORT Specialist, you will take the project lead in the grant team’s Student Navigator Plan, which involves implementing and institutionalizing best practices in student navigation and financial literacy strategies, while facilitating relevant professional development opportunities for campus faculty and staff, both individually and in groups. Through this work, the grant team hopes to inspire a shift in campus climate toward an even more inclusive and equitable space for students, where they can feel empowered to navigate their path at UAS Sitka.

To thrive in this role, you should have experience in project development and implementation, knowledge in financial literacy, interpersonal and presentation skills, and the ability to document findings and project progress. Capacity to examine the UAS Sitka student experience through data analysis, communicating directly with students and collaborating with community partners is essential. A commitment to serving a diverse student population, including Alaska Native students, queer students, non-traditional and first generation college students, online students, and students with disabilities is crucial.

    Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree and relevant work experience, or a combination of training and experience.

    Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Southeast campus in Sitka. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until a successful candidate is identified. Review of application materials will begin immediately. Search and selection procedures will be closed when a sufficient and viable number of qualified candidates have been identified.

*To be eligible for this position, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.  Applicants who now or may in the future require visa sponsorship to work in the United States are not eligible.

This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.

The University of Alaska (UA) is responsible for providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities throughout the applicant screening process.
