Materials Control Manager manages daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Control Manager coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Monitors operations and troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Control Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Control Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Control Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     What You'll Do:

    Planning/Scheduling: 

    • Effectively plan and schedule to meet production/customer demand
    • Fulfill, monitor and set safety stock levels to meet delivery targets and inventory reduction goals 
    • Oversee fulfillment/expediting of inter-company requirements
    • Oversee creation/distribution and maintenance of adequate work orders
    • Ensure all materials are available for successful execution on shop floor

     

    Purchasing: 

    • Oversee all daily procurement activities needed to fulfill production demand
    • Maintain sufficient raw material stocking levels to protect production and customer schedules
    • Establish and enforce procedures to ensure proper recording, storage and tracking 
    • Oversee MRO/expense procurement
    • Work with suppliers concerning forecasted needs/supply pipeline integrity

     

    Inventory: 

    • Responsible for cycle count program fulfillment
    • Effective material disposition of obsolete and slow-moving material
    • Responsible for control of all appropriate transactional integrity, procedures and policies
    • Plan and lead the execution of semi-annual physical inventory 

     

    Logistics: 

    • Oversee ordering and receipt of shipments in compliance with all regulations
    • Coordinate deliveries and cost saving efforts
    • Effective communication/scheduling of inbound with logistics providers

     

    Receiving:

    • Responsible for directing receiving personnel and function
    • Ensure all delivery receipts and put away processes are being executed accurately and timely
    • Ensure that all picking is competed and accurately entered

     

    Supervisory and Managerial Responsibilities: 

    • Directly supervise raw materials planning, scheduling of, purchasing, and receiving functions
    • Collaborate with Customer Service and Planning/Scheduling to improve manufacturing flow
    • Collaborate and ensure alignment with the Director of Supply Chain for TRMS corporate

     

    What You'll Need:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or other related discipline
    • 7 years of successful supervisory experience
    • Excellent leadership skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word and Outlook 
    • Ability to read/interpret blueprints, drawings, or other technical material
    • Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team-based environment
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Highly organized and process driven
    • Dedicated to the pursuit of continuous improvement
    • APICS certification is a plus
