Materials Control Manager manages daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Control Manager coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Monitors operations and troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Control Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Control Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Control Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Overview

    Altaview, a Summit Materials Company, is looking for a Concrete Quality Control Technician in our Construction Aggregate division. This position will be responsible for testing aggregate materials for gradation and quality properties in accordance with test methods and specifications.

    This position will also come with the benefit and responsibility of utilizing safely and efficiently a company vehicle and computer/cell phone.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • This job will use accepted methods to inspect, sample, and test aggregates, concrete, or other materials for the purpose of quality control and/or analysis and resolving problems.
    • Concrete testing will include unit weight, air content, slump, compressive strength testing, temperatures, and making, curing, and transporting the cylinders all via the ASTM standards.
    • Prepare and record accurate information and report to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
    • Follow quality control plans or guidelines as assigned. Evaluate data for deviations or trends away from accepted standards.
    • Obtain required certifications in a timely manner which training will be provided and paid during certification process. Assist internal and external customers in any quality-related matters. Other duties as assigned.

    Skills & Experience

    • Be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights and anywhere within our work area
    • No set schedule we are a 7/24 hour company that will train the right candidate
    • Previous testing/quality experience highly desired.
    • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
    • Able to read, comprehend, and communicate in English.
    • Excellent math skills are required.
    • Strong computer skills are required
