Materials Control Manager manages daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Control Manager coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations to improve operational efficiencies and workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Monitors operations and troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Control Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Control Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Control Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     COMPENSATION - Market Value – Pay Dependent Upon Experience

    SUMMARY

    Boxley, a Summit Materials company, is searching for a mechanically inclined, safety-oriented Traffic Control Coordinator to install, maintain and remove the traffic control devices to ensure the safety of the traveling public and workers. This position is full-time, seasonal with 9 months of consistent work per year. Overtime can and is often required during peak season (April – November).

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintains work area in orderly and hazard-free condition in construction area according to instructions by foreman or superintendent
    • Shovel cover material for the traveling public to cross work areas and residue from the operations as necessary
    • Protect utilities during the installation of the product
    • Operate hand tools as necessary
    • Performs any daily maintenance and lubrication procedures as outlined by the company or according to manufacturer’s specifications
    • Follows all safety procedures, (OSHA, company and plant)
    • Checks guards, safety devices and warning signs to determine they are in proper position and in good working order.
    • Complies with all Federal, State and corporate policies

    QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Ability to operate construction equipment
    • Must be able to obtain the VDOT Immediate Work Zone Supervisor Certificate and other certifications as necessary in other states.
    • Good driving record and be able to safely operate a vehicle up to 26,000 lbs.
    • Possess simple oral skills and be safety oriented
    • Possess ability to use various handheld tools, ability to respond quickly to safety demands, traveling public and equipment malfunctions.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, squat, or kneel, lift up or handle up to 100 lbs., bend, stretch, climb, and crawl. The employee may have to stay in one position for long amounts of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, close vision, depth perception and color discrimination.
    • The noise level of work environment is that of usual outdoor construction and operation of heavy equipment. The work environment also includes exposure to existing weather conditions, some dust and irritating atmospheres.
