Materials Handling Supervisor jobs in the United States

Materials Handling Supervisor supervises and coordinates the work of employees who load and unload material within a warehouse or storage facility. Processes orders from requisitions and dispenses items from stock. Being a Materials Handling Supervisor oversees the utilization of hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from aircraft, trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Prepares work schedules, assigns work, and oversees the work product. Additionally, Materials Handling Supervisor ensures procedures are according to specifications and that resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met. May assist in inventory of stock and stock rotation. Enters information into a computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records, retrieve stored data, or respond to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Materials Handling Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.     Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented 2nd Shift Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Engineer I-III based at our manufacturing facility located in Berea, Kentucky.

    What You Will Do

    • Lead and identify continuous improvement activities in manufacturing processes, including automation, robotics, and digital systems.
    • Provide day-to-day support to resolve manufacturing issues and drive improvements across multiple value streams.
    • Evaluate and optimize new and existing manufacturing processes to ensure they meet production, safety, and cost standards.
    • Lead teams in continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, and 6σ methodologies.
    • Develop specifications for equipment, tooling, materials, and processes to ensure the safe and efficient production of products.
    • Support the introduction of new products and innovative manufacturing strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
    • Maintain accurate process documentation, engineering change notices, and quality records to ensure compliance with industry standards.
    • Drive projects focused on capital improvements, automation, and process optimization to enhance operational performance.

    Level I

    What you will need:

    • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or an Associate's degree with 3-5 years of relevant manufacturing experience.

    Level II

    • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or an Associate's degree with 5-7 years of manufacturing experience.

    Level III

    • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or an Associate's degree with 7-10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing.

    Skills, Experience & Abilities

    • Leadership: Ability to lead teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.
    • Continuous Improvement: In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and experience in leading CI projects.
    • Project Management: Experience in managing multiple projects and ensuring timely execution of process improvements.
    • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
    • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in key manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, assembly techniques, automation, PLC, and computer applications.
