Materials Management Supervisor supervises daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Management Supervisor coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations and staffing to enable workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Management Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Materials Management Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Management Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Reporting to the Site Operations Director, the Associate Director of Material Management for the Collins Avionics Melbourne site will be responsible for leading a team of Material planning, Capacity Planning, I4.0 transformation, Logistics, and training leads.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Drive the planning organization to deliver accurate production scheduling by coordinating with all relevant stakeholders.
    • Define and provide a strategy to improve the planning accuracy.
    • Define and execute strategies for Materials Management team.
    • Lean (CORE) Manufacturing – responsible to ensure lean principles are applied to part flow and all other material management activities.
    • Leadership - Provide leadership to Operations Planning employees and team leaders. Ensure they are engaged, trained, and contribute to the success of the site.
    • Define the individual team member goals to align to site level goals and actively review the status of the performance management.
    • Lead a comprehensive I4.0 transformation strategy tailored to the unique needs of our Avionics Melbourne site.
    • Operations Reporting – responsible for On-time Starts, milestone OTD and customer OTD.
    • Generate robust process to monitor the health of plans and standandard calendar adherence.
    • Identify the root causes corrective actions plan for the Plan adherence deviations and identify the solutions to fix the root cause.
    • Own the inventory planning and PFEP (plan for every part) process to meet the goals.
    • Own and drive the capacity planning process to make the site ready for future needs.
    • Spend ample of time on the shop-floor to support operations team and collect feedback from operations to increase planning alignment.
    • Lead order commit process to drive the organization to adhere to ‘one-plan.’
    • Define and implement the CORE maturity plan for Material Management team.
    • Develop standard works and procedures to comply with corporate guidelines.
    • Relentless Root Cause Corrective Actions to demonstrate the turnbacks reduction on all activities.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Typically requires University Degree preferably in a logistics, production management, or supply chain management discipline, and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience.
    • 10 years’ experience in Material/Production Planning, including a minimum of 10 years in a manufacturing environment and 5 years at a management level.
    • 5 years of Lean Manufacturing experience.
    • Proficiency in SAP/Similar ERP.
    • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Working knowledge of inventory control analysis and production control techniques and management thereof.
    • Experience in the development and management of Kanban’s, supermarkets, bus schedules and vendor managed inventory.
    • Thorough understanding of supply chain concepts and their financial impact (inventory turns, cash flow, and working capital).
    • Experience working in both a management oversight capacity and a detailed hands-on system capacity.
    • Experience with managing and developing dotted-line relationship.

    The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
