Materials Management Supervisor supervises daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Management Supervisor coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations and staffing to enable workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Management Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Materials Management Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Management Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     SUMMARY

    The Materials Management Assistant works with department managers and all other employees to maintain stocking levels, open, receive and deliver incoming freight, fill requisitions, and other duties as needed in the department.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Receives, checks, tags, stocks and delivers incoming freight to appropriate department in a timely manner.

    Monitors and rotates stock and recommends restock levels as needed.

    Fills department requisitions and delivers in a timely manner.

    Prepares and sends outgoing freight.

    Performs external errands, pick-ups and deliveries within the community.

    Inputs purchase order receivings and issues for all departments.  Report any adjustments needed.

    Demonstrates knowledge of and accurate use of the materials management computer system.

    Understands the proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.

    Supports the policies and procedures of the organization and the standards of the Joint Commission as required for full accreditation.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High School Diploma and one year of experience preferred.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
