Position Materials Planner

Job Description

The Whitaker Company is seeking a Materials Planner in our Spartanburg, South Carolina location. The Materials Planner at The Whitaker Company is responsible for working with purchasing, customer service, and plant personnel to efficiently manage blends and packaged products such as scheduling production, batch sizes, inventory levels, and paperwork.

Responsibilities

· Determine/set stock levels for packaged products for blends and straight raw materials.

· Work with Plant Managers to schedule packaging of raw materials.

· Work with blend teams to schedule blends.

o Ensure raw materials are available for blends and packaged inventory and work with purchasing to procure materials not on-hand.

o Determine appropriate batch sizes based on current sales and historic usage per product and continue to update and manage.

o Determine products qualified as “made to order” and set lead times to communicate with sales.

· Prepare batch tickets for blend team and collect paperwork when complete.

o Ensure batch tickets are complete.

o Verify the accuracy of batch tickets.

o Submit all tickets to accounting for recording.

o Manage and inventory product labels for packaged stock and blended products.

· Review all open orders.

o Communicate with customer service on delivery dates.

o Provide updates to the planning team as they become available.

o Alert appropriate personnel of any changes during the process.

Skills

· Computer skills: Basic Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); Chempax (or ability to learn/adapt to new software)

· Manage e-mails – proficient, professional, and high volume.

· Must be proficient in math.

· Basic knowledge of products and Whitaker operations.

· Problem solving and interpersonal skills.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision.

Salary - Based on experience, 40 hours per week, Shifts: M-F, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Education- High School diploma or GED equivalent, Jr college/College a plus
