Mechanical Designer designs and creates layouts and documentation for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical building systems that meet project and technical specifications. Uses computer-aided design (CAD) and other specialized software tools to generate detailed layout plans, schematics, and drawings for mechanical systems. Being a Mechanical Designer maintains accurate and complete change and version control on all design files, documents, and drawings. Incorporates best practices to address design space constraints and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and building codes. Additionally, Mechanical Designer collaborates with engineers and other project members. May conduct or participate in site visits to inspect installations or troubleshoot problems. May require an associate degree in mechanical design, drafting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Designer works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. We are currently looking for a Mechanical Designer with Solidworks 3D experience in a manufacturing environment to support our client, a leading manufacturer of steel products in Bay City, Texas. Our client is experiencing rapid growth and investing in large capital expansion and improvement projects. This is a long term, multi-year assignment supporting an ongoing engineering and construction support services contract.
In this role, you would work as part of a team of drafters, designers, and engineers responsible for the design of new industrial facilities and equipment. In this position, you will be responsible for both the design and execution of various small and large capital projects. This includes "hands-on" design of various equipment, machines, and industrial facilities. Must be knowledgeable and proficient in AutoCAD and Solidworks to be successful in this role.
