Being a Mechanical Designer maintains accurate and complete change and version control on all design files, documents, and drawings. Incorporates best practices to address design space constraints and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and building codes. Full Job Description: Mechanical Installer
Reports to: Piping Field Supervisor
Focus Areas: Heavy commercial (Rooftop DX, VRF systems, multiple split systems) and institutional work (colleges, schools, hospitals, governmental buildings)
JOB SUMMARY:
Understands the basic theory and installation process of refrigerant and hydronic systems/components required for chill water, hot water, direct expansion, and steam systems. Has knowledge of lay out and fabrication of pipe assemblies and is able to install such piping and required equipment safely for HVAC systems. Has knowledge of piping in chillers, boilers, air handlers, vav boxes, fan coil units
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Reads, studies, and interprets job specifications, plans, and blueprints to gain understanding of work to be done. Reads submittals of equipment to be installed within the HVAC system.
· Organizes list of material required to install job.
· Inspects work site daily to determine presence of obstructions and/or safety issues and can control said issues.
· Cuts, cleans, threads, solders, and fabricates pipe assemblies as required for each DX project.
· Work with other crafts on projects to eliminate obstructions and coordinate activities of other construction workers.
· Pressure testing of piping system for leaks. Basic pressure test of 400-600 PSI is common.
· Fabricates and installs different types of copper pipe and pipe fittings. (ACR copper, type L and K copper, PVC, etc.)
· Installs DX pipe and secures to the structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
· A High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years as a DX installer with experience in HVAC DX piping or equivalent combination of education (Technical School) and experience.
· Uses basic math skills (geometry and trigonometry are a plus) and able to read a tape measure accurately.
· This position requires working on new ground up construction as well as renovation of existing buildings. Weather conditions, heat exposure, working around other trades and high voltage areas are conditions that one may be exposed to. At times will be subject to working around heavy equipment (cranes, forklifts, manlifts) on sites.
· This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders. It requires employees at times to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
