Mechanical Designer designs and creates layouts and documentation for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical building systems that meet project and technical specifications. Uses computer-aided design (CAD) and other specialized software tools to generate detailed layout plans, schematics, and drawings for mechanical systems. Being a Mechanical Designer maintains accurate and complete change and version control on all design files, documents, and drawings. Incorporates best practices to address design space constraints and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and building codes. Additionally, Mechanical Designer collaborates with engineers and other project members. May conduct or participate in site visits to inspect installations or troubleshoot problems. May require an associate degree in mechanical design, drafting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Designer works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Description:
Actalent is looking for a mechanical design engineer in the SLC, Utah area - this person will take R&D drawings, documents and format them into work/maintenance instructions. This company is a med-device manufacturer, therefore the change orders will need robust documentation. Most of their time will be spent creating qualifications for the equipment. They will be creating the work instructions and then running the risk assessment - they will need to root cause with cross functional teams. This position is heavy documentation and lots of communicating between cross functional teams. The candidate will be expected to expand on their implementation experience with respect to change orders and provide examples of how they completed projects.
This is a new process and system for the team so there will be a lot of engineering change orders and documentation back and forth between teams on modifications that need to be made and why.
