Description:
• Solve engineering problems as they relate to Plant / Piping Layout, coordinate technical interfaces and ensure they are clearly defined.
• Develop, maintain and issue design specifications and drawings in regard to plant layout and piping.
• Review proposal (internal) and customer (external) documents and ensure proper definition and understanding of the requirements.
• Coordinate the technical interface between Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Plant Engineering and internal architect engineer (A/E) teams and external A/E teams.
• Implement the Plant Layout / Piping scope in accordance with the Project Schedule.
• Review A/E design and ensure deliverables are consistent with project specific requirements.
• Provide field support during construction and commissioning on the modular pipe rack, piping and layout scope.
• Manage the design control process during project implementation. This includes the review and approval of design changes, review levels, etc., to assess the impact of a proposed design change on system performance.
• Ensure that reference plant design activities will include project specific deliverables for piping & facilities such as facility GA drawings, modular pipe rack detail drawings and other information relevant to piping.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Four year degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited College or University.
• At least 10 years of successful experience in the power generation industry in Balance of Plant piping (main steam, hot reheat, cold reheat, etc.) design, pipe support selection and plant layout design and familiarity with pipe stress analysis, fittings and pipe specialties.
• Candidate should have basic knowledge of Thermal Cycle Engineering, advanced knowledge of Plant Layout and Piping Design and ability to utilize NavisWorks software for review of piping designs in 3-D models developed by the A/E.
• Candidate shall have strong leadership skills and the ability to apply these skills to applications dealing with a large multi-functional organization to ensure that successful results are attained.
