Mechanical Engineering Supervisor oversees the designing of engines, tools, and other mechanical equipment and industrial processes. Also responsible for supervising the production, operation, repair and maintenance of equipment. Being a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor may work with other engineering departments to aid in the development and usage of robotics to improve productivity. A level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Additionally, Mechanical Engineering Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. POSITION SUMMARY
This is an entry level position that is normally regarded as a continuing portion of an engineer’s initial work experience, training, and development. Projects of limited scope and complexity using a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques in solving problems will be assigned. The engineer will assist more senior level engineers in carrying out technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed analysis, design, or computation methods.
Work is closely managed and reviewed for accuracy and adequacy. Follows specific, outlined, and detailed directions.
Provides resolution to problems that are readily identifiable with limited scope and are resolved in accordance with standard practices, procedures, applications, or routines.
Problem/ Task resolution timeframe: The majority of tasks typically take one to two days to resolve.
Contacts are primarily with direct supervisor and others in group or department to give and receive information.
