Seltzer’s Smokehouse is looking for a highly skilled Buyer who is ready to join us as we head into a new chapter in our amazing story. With a renewed vision from our next generation CEO, the iconic Seltzer’s brand is preparing for national expansion through innovation, creativity, and forward thinking.

• Review, analyze, and coordinate effective utilization of raw material and production facilities/teams to meet customer demand. Ensure optimal inventory levels are held to meet current and upcoming customer demand.
• Schedule and direct production needs and track production performance to schedule minimizing overtime and maximizing plant yields.
• Procurement of raw materials and packaging for the Lebanon and Palmyra Plants.
• Development and implementation of cost reduction projects.
• Negotiates pricing directly with suppliers. Establishes payment terms, delivery, mutually agreeable specifications, and mutually agreeable lead times. Establishes standard costs for some purchased raw materials and packaging.
• Places orders for raw materials and packaging and ensures materials are delivered on time. Places orders based on quality, service and price considerations.
• Search available products to find the best combination of quality, price, and delivery
• Negotiate policies and contracts with various suppliers
• Monitor stock levels and verify purchase requisitions
• Maintain professional relationships with all key suppliers
• Assist Quality with obtaining and keeping current supplier quality/food safety documents.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

• 3 years of experience in a purchasing and planning role
• Experience in an MRP & ERP environment
• Proficient with Excel including pivot tables, formulas, Vlookup functions
• Previous Production/Inventory Planning, Logistics and Continuous improvement leadership experience a plus

• Strong communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills
• Analytical and mathematical capabilities to compare prices and quantities
• Ability to evaluate market conditions and various supplies
• Keen eye for detail
• Willingness to make quick and thoughtful decision on behalf of the business
• Effective relationship building skills
