  • GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
    Manage the functions of the production floor.

    REPORTS TO: Plant Manager

    SUPERVISION GIVEN: Manages all Team leads, Supervisors and all Associates assigned to Production, Shipping & Receiving, Toolroom, Maintenance, and Quality.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    Requires use of office equipment such as computer, keyboards, telephone, facsimiles, and copiers. May require bending, stooping, stretching, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods of time. Requires normal hearing, vision, and speak range.

    TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Work is performed in office and factory environments

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for directing, scheduling, supervising, and managing the production floor.
    • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
    • Ensure quality standards are monitored and maintained. Responsible for maintaining quality standards and implementing ISO/TS16949 objectives & policies.
    • Responsible for developing, recording, and enforcing performance metrics and monitoring budgeted and expected performance to established plant goals and objectives.
    • Establish a training program to improve the working knowledge of associates assigned in these departments. Monitor and determine the effectiveness of plant training programs and direct changes to enhance the working knowledge of all plant employees
    • Monitor five waste categories and communicate with plant manager any cost above acceptable limits (OT, Scrap, Rework, Premium Freight, Customer Chargebacks).
    • Communicate with scheduling and other suppliers to ensure necessary materials, tooling availability, and container requirements to ensure the integrity of the production schedule is maintained.
    • Ensure all associates comply with the policies and procedures of McGregor Metalworking Companies. Ensure consistent and fair treatment of all associates assigned to these departments.
    • Work with plant leadership and other managers to develop a lean culture with the expectation of providing quality products, delivered on time, and at a world class efficiency level.
    • Evaluate employees and conducts periodic reviews of performance, attendance, quality, and behavior. Take appropriate action when employees are not performing to expectations in any of these categories.
    • Ensure departmental expectations are provided to our associates, monitored for compliance, and hold employees accountable for their results.
    • Set a high personal example of professionalism: attire, attitude, attendance, accountability, and leadership.

    EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of robotics/robotic welding preferred. Previous supervision experience required. Associates or Bachelors in Business, or equivalent work experience.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • Steel-toed shoes, ear plugs, and safety glasses required while performing duties in production areas.
    • Maintain organized schedules and filing.
    • Excellent computer literacy and data entry knowledge.
