    Description of Work Unit
    Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.     The Women and Gender Advocacy Center (WGAC) provides programs and resources focusing on all genders, social justice, and interpersonal violence prevention. Additionally, the WGAC provides advocacy and support for victims of sexual violence, stalking, sexual harassment, relationship violence, and adult survivors of sexual assault. Our purpose is to provide a safe and affirming space for the students we serve at Colorado State University, while supporting systemic change to end all forms of oppression within our community.

    WGAC programs and services include:
    • Educational and outreach programming on gender related concerns;
    • General information and resource referral on issues related to gender;
    • Victim advocacy and assistance for survivors of interpersonal violence; and
    • The WGAC lending library of print and media materials.

    Position Summary
    The Media Program Coordinator in the Women and Gender Advocacy Center is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Assistant Director of Educational Programming.

    The Program Coordinator shares in providing leadership for the mission of the Women and Gender Advocacy Center through the initiation, development, administration, and evaluation of programs and services.

    The priority for the Media Program Coordinator is to create and facilitate programmatic efforts, with a special focus on media management, promotion, and data collection. This position will also work very closely with the Assistant Director for Educational Programming to coordinate and implement education and outreach programming from an intersectional framework on social justice issues, with a specific focus on interpersonal violence and other and gender-based topics throughout the campus and community. This position will also provide support for the student media team and will become trained as a victim advocate.

    Required Job Qualifications
    • A bachelor’s degree in education, communication, public relations, social science, women and gender studies, psychology, business, public administration, business administration, higher education, liberal arts, marketing, human services, student affairs, or a related field
    • Demonstrated experience with Adobe Illustrator, Canva, and/or other graphic design software.
    • Demonstrated experience developing social media content
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and with individuals and groups who hold a variety of identities, cultures, and backgrounds.
    • Demonstrated experience working independently and the ability to build collaborative teams of students, faculty and/or staff members in fast paced and dynamic environments.

    Preferred Job Qualifications
    • Experience with video and/or podcasting production.
    • Direct experience working with and/or mentoring students
    • Experience with the coordination, planning and facilitation of interpersonal violence educational programming for students
    • Demonstrated success in educational program design including large-scale marketing initiatives and/or social norming campaigns
    • Experience managing organizational accounts on various social media and online platforms.
    • Experience with social justice education with university athletics and/or fraternity/sorority life
    • A high level of intersectional competency and a contemporary understanding of issues that affect students in a higher education setting related to gender based interpersonal violence and sexual assault. Must demonstrate a strong understanding of interpersonal and relationship violence, sexual assault victim assistance services and/or gender education work related to interpersonal violence prevention

    • Assist with conceptualizing, creating, editing, enhancing and publishing educational social media and print campaigns focused on transformative justice, preventive and bystander education, resources and support for survivors of interpersonal violence/sexual assault.
    • Work closely with the programming and advocacy teams and campus partners to align content with our stated philosophies, goals, and mission.
    • Ensuring all content remains up to date, innovative, relevant and aligns with university and center guidelines.
    • Social Media Content & Community Management
    • Assist in creating social media strategy for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube channels (and others if staff chooses to engage with other social media platforms)
    • Develop and publish daily content.
    • Maintain the office newsletter
    • Manage the office social media calendar
    • Curate and develop content with students, staff, and faculty
    • Support with mentoring students and interns who are focusing on media-related initiatives
    • Monitor social channels and respond to issues/concerns
    • Create and support integrated marketing & communications efforts
    • Available to work evenings and weekends as necessary to best meet the needs of our students
    • Support general WGAC awareness month programming.
    • Represent the WGAC at meetings with campus community collaborators and other events
    • Facilitate other WGAC presentations as needed (such as supporting survivors, bystander intervention, etc)
    • Support with the WGAC podcast(s)

    • Provide information and referral for students, faculty, staff and other clientele on gender-related concerns.
    • Understand campus resources, policies and procedures and serve as a reliable and accurate source of information to current and prospective students.
