JOB SUMMARY
This job is responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating external communication for Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) to effectively highlight the organization as a thought leader in healthcare quality, outcomes and innovation. An incumbent manages daily activities relating to proactive/reactive owned/earned media relations, including crisis communications, focused on promoting and protecting the VMFH brand and reputation.
Work is performed in accordance with professional standards and strategic business objectives and is conducted in close collaboration with internal communications, marketing, social media, community relations and government relations teams.
Work includes:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Marketing, Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations or related field, and six years of progressively responsible media relations work experience, including two years in a supervisory or management capacity. Work experience in a health care setting or an agency with health care clients is preferred.
Additional qualifying work experience, on a year-for-year basis, may be substituted for the degree requirement.
