Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Being a Medical Assistant prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Additionally, Medical Assistant may perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RCA) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Assistant works under moderate supervision. We are a pediatrics practice in north Peoria looking for a full time Medical Assistant. The position will primarily be back office, but we do cross train so that everyone is comfortable working in all areas of the office as needed, including back office, front office, and scheduling. You must be a certified/registered Medical Assistant. You must be comfortable handling and administering vaccines, and efficient with vaccine documentation and record keeping. Organization, verbal and interpersonal skills are a must. We use electronic medical records, so computer skills are very important. The medical assistant will work closely with the providers and patients. We care about our staff and it shows in their long term history with the practice. We need someone that is a reliable team player with a positive and outgoing personality. At this time we would prefer applicants with a minimum of 6 months experience.
