Medical Director plans and directs all aspects of an organization's medical policies, standards, and programs. Responsible for strategic clinical relationships with physicians and interns. Being a Medical Director ensures all clinical programs are in compliance with all applicable regulations. Researches and studies current medical publications and data on new treatments and practices to ensure high quality clinical service offerings. Additionally, Medical Director advises non medical management on clinical and patient related matters and policies. Requires a MD degree. Typically reports to top management. The Medical Director manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Medical Director typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience. You Will Love
- Supporting the DVM staff in the personal development of medical and administrative needs
- Leading the staff and practice by growing the team, holding meetings, conducting annual reviews, developing and monitoring compliance protocols
- Partnering with your Regional Operations manager to ensure compliance with regulations, assist in the preparation of annual planning strategy, and develop a vision for the growth of the practice
- Partnering with Hospital Leadership to lead the team, ensuring a culture of quality medicine and financial success for the clinic
Qualifications & Competencies
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university
- Licensure in good standing to practice in the state of employment
- Ideally, 5 years of practice experience
- Positive and effective leadership
- Ability to manage staff and outcomes with emotional intelligence
- Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics
- Delegation of tasks and achieving results with practice team members
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
