Medical Director plans and directs all aspects of an organization's medical policies, standards, and programs. Responsible for strategic clinical relationships with physicians and interns. Being a Medical Director ensures all clinical programs are in compliance with all applicable regulations. Researches and studies current medical publications and data on new treatments and practices to ensure high quality clinical service offerings. Additionally, Medical Director advises non medical management on clinical and patient related matters and policies. Requires a MD degree. Typically reports to top management. The Medical Director manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Medical Director typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.     Central Coast Pet Emergency is seeking an experienced Veterinarian interested in coming onboard to lead our team as a Medical Director!


    What we’re offering:

    • Up to 25% production! Our full-time doctors can expect a total annual pay upwards of $250,000 or more, including production! 
    • 4 week sabbatical for every 5 years of service.

    • MDVM annual leadership bonus as well as additional bonus incentives tied to hospital performance.
    • Fully equipped practice: new flexible endoscope, new digital radiography, a high-quality ultrasound, in-house lab analyzers, two oxygen cages, and paper-lite records (EzyVet and SmartFlow). If you want equipment or meds we don’t have, we’re flexible about acquiring it!

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Advancing Medical Care

    • Oversees surgical and medical cases for all doctors, ensuring positive outcomes, accurate estimates, and client communication and education
    • Answers client questions and concerns regarding medical and surgical procedures
    • Provides oversight and direction of medical standards, quality of care and inventory
    • Establishes medical protocols
    • Oversees transfer of medical cases from doctor to doctor
    • Minimizes waste and controls costs relating to medical supplies, surgical instruments, and drug inventories

    Leading Staff and Practice

    • Participates in the recruiting and interviewing process for doctors, and when appropriate general staff members
    • Monitors doctor performance and production
    • Develops and monitors hospital-specific client compliance protocols and procedures
    • Participates in technician appraisal and medical counseling sessions
    • Ensures all medical staff receive applicable training, including the mentoring of new graduates
    • Supports the Hospital Manager with staff training programs and tracking CE and DVM/VMD licensure

    Financial Responsibilities

    • Drives revenue and hospital contribution growth, which includes managing all hospital expenses
    • Assists in the preparation of an annual planning strategy, operating budget and capital budget
    • Monitors key financial reports

    Growing the Practice

    • Drives patient visits and encourages community involvement
    • Embraces change and supports innovative programs within the hospital
    • Monitors client service, marketing, and NVA growth initiatives
    • Seeks out ways to innovate operational practices that improve the growth of the practice
