Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Being a Medical Laboratory Technician operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures. Additionally, Medical Laboratory Technician records lab results in specified system. Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards. Requires an associate degree in laboratory technology, science or equivalent. Requires valid certification as Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from ASCP or AMT. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Position Summary: Medical Laboratory Technician
Responsible for testing specimens without the direct supervision of a Medical Technologist. Answering phones, data entry, and correspondence for the department. Couriers between departments when necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for testing specimens, venipuncture and blood draws for all age groups. Responsible data entry for logging specimens and maintaining log recordkeeping. Maintains high level demand of workload. Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree required. Can be an entry level position, however a minimum of one year of MLT experience is preferred
Required Licensure/Certification:
ASCP or AMT certification is required.

This position has a high exposure risk to body fluids and blood borne pathogens, and chemical substances.
