Medical Records Coding Technician jobs in the United States

Medical Records Coding Technician abstracts clinical information from a variety of medical records, charts and documents and assigns appropriate ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes to patient records according to established procedures. Works with coding databases and confirms DRG assignments. Being a Medical Records Coding Technician inputs and maintains data on procedures required for state or other reporting. May require an associate degree. Additionally, Medical Records Coding Technician typically requires AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Coding Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.
