Description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Supervisor, Internal Transcription Resources is responsible for assisting in driving the overall performance of the legal transcription team, with a primary focus on increasing efficiency of processes through instruction, coaching, mentoring, and skill development.
JOB DUTIES
- Build and leverage strong relationships with colleagues, especially those on the legal transcription team
- Create and maintain engaged and accountable legal transcriptionists who deliver superior transcript quality
- Coach, develop, and manage the overall performance of the transcription team members, especially as it relates to meeting expedited delivery deadlines
- Resolve transcript quality issues in collaboration with Fulfillment Services Center colleagues
- Ensure each transcriptionist maintains productivity requirements
- Set expectations for and assure quality of the work products of transcriptionists
- Follow Esquire’s best practices and standards for transcript production, editing, quality assurance, and confidentiality
- Deliver regular, ongoing skills training and development for all transcriptionists
- Organize work effectively and prioritize daily assignments according to deadlines, job size, and client priority while remaining flexible for changes in work schedule
- Provide weekly metrics to Manager of Internal Transcription Resources on transcriptionist performance
- Perform other duties as needed in support of legal transcriptionists

- Knowledge in computer backup, archival methods, and security protocols
- Knowledge of CAT software and/or Esquire’s chosen digital reporting transcription software
- Knowledge of and ability to use the Associated Press (AP) Stylebook as a guide on word and number usage, capitalization, and punctuation
- Ability to proofread transcripts of legal proceedings, ensuring accuracy in grammar, legal or medical terminology, content, and punctuation of the verbatim record
- Working knowledge of both court reporting procedures and all elements of pre-trial discovery and court transcripts
MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS
- Transcription quality measured by legal transcriptionist jobs returned or rejected
- Successfully meeting expectations in the performance of daily assignments
- Production of accurate and quality final transcripts in accordance with Esquire’s Transcript Format Templates and Transcription Style Guides
- Maintenance of quality control processes for draft transcripts, final transcripts, and completion of job submission worksheets
- Thorough understanding of programs, processes, and expectations among transcription team members
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in legal transcription
- Minimum touch-typing speed of 60 wpm with high degree of accuracy
