Meeting/Event Director jobs in the United States

Meeting/Event Director directs the overall planning of meetings and special events for an organization. Designs and implements meeting planning policies and procedures. Being a Meeting/Event Director approves the final selection of venues, menus, and vendors for catering, technology, and other event support services. Reviews and approves contracts and has overall responsibility for ensuring events stay within budget. Additionally, Meeting/Event Director typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Meeting/Event Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Meeting/Event Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
