Meeting/Event Director directs the overall planning and strategy for live or virtual meetings and events for an organization. Defines the goals, success metrics, and messaging for events. Being a Meeting/Event Director implements best practices and develops planning standards, policies. and procedures. Additionally, Meeting/Event Director develops a network of vendors. Approves the final selection of venues, catering, technology, and other event support services. Reviews and approves contracts and has overall responsibility for ensuring events stay within budget. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Meeting/Event Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Meeting/Event Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in education administration or a related field
- Strong background in higher education teaching or educational leadership
- Proven ability to educate and mentor students effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource management
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in education administration
