Meeting/Event Planner plans and organizes live or virtual meetings and events for an organization or external clients. Implements an event strategy to achieve objectives. Being a Meeting/Event Planner researches and recommends event venues. Coordinates meeting logistics, including attendee registration, transportation, accommodations, meals, and technology. Additionally, Meeting/Event Planner conducts rehearsals and system checks of all equipment and connectivity. Researches and maintains relationships with vendors for event support services. Coordinates budget planning and ensures that events stay within cost projections. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Meeting/Event Planner occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • Job Summary: Under supervision, provides entry level professional support in transportation planning activities including multimodal short-and long-range plans and geographic planning analysis.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

    Under close supervision, performs duties at a beginning working level in the planning and analysis of the statewide transportation system existing and future needs.  Duties may include:

    ·         Responsible for understanding and communicating the transportation conditions and needs within assigned area and making recommendations for improvement. 

    ·         Analyzes, interprets, and/or applies federal and state regulations, laws, and policies.

    ·         Writes technical documents and executive briefings. 

    ·         Manages consultant transportation planning contracts.

    ·         Collects data and analyzes for programmed transportation projects including collecting existing traffic and crash data. 

    ·         Other transportation-planning related job duties as assigned.

     

    NOTE: This position may require statewide travel with occasional overnight stays.

    Entry Qualifications:

    ·         High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of job- related experience in the transportation industry

    ·         OR Associate degree in transportation, logistics, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    ·         Two (2) years of experience in Rural or Urban Transportation Planning.

    ·         Experience analyzing, interpreting, and /or applying federal or state regulations.

    ·         Experience and/or knowledge of transportation funding sources, particularly federal and state programs.

    ·         Experience with HCS or ArcGIS software.

    ·         Proficient with MS PowerPoint and MS Excel advanced formulas, such as VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables

    ·         Ability to gather, interpret, and summarize information for the purpose of writing technical reports/documents.

    ·         Possesses strong oral communication skills, ideas and facts to individuals or groups effectively.

    ·         Manages priorities, setting well-defined and realistic personal goals.

    ·         Ability to motivate and promote teamwork.

    ·         Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

    ·         Ability to apply innovative solutions in solving problems.

    ·         Strong customer orientation.

    ·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

    In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing.  Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion).  In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation.  Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors.  Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
