Membership Recruitment and Support Manager

We are seeking a results-oriented Membership Recruitment and Support Manager. In this role, you’ll lead a team responsible for recruiting new members and supporting our volunteers. Additionally, you’ll support the development and execution of the membership strategy to achieve annual goals.


    What you'll do

    General/Administrative

    • Approve staff schedules, timesheets, and expenses.
    • Mentor, coach, and train staff through regular check-ins and performance evaluations.
    • Plan and co-facilitate weekly departmental meetings.
    • Foster team trust and collaboration.
    • Attend council-wide programs, activities, and endeavors to support organizational success, and build strong interdepartmental relationships.

    Membership Recruitment and Retention

    • Help create the annual membership strategy to meet organizational membership goals.
    • Develop, maintain, and improve projects and campaigns within the annual membership strategy for staff and administrative volunteer teams.
    • Manage internal and external resource and asset development, inventory, and distribution for projects and campaigns.
    • Create KPIs and goals and drive behaviors and tactics to achieve those goals based on the annual membership strategy for all team members, focused on school engagement, organizational partnerships, volunteer recruitment, and increasing Girl Scout visibility through physical and digital promotion.
    • Mentor staff in their work to develop membership goals with volunteer teams in their assigned areas and step in to provide additional support as needed.
    • Regularly meet with individual staff to check in on KPI progress and goal achievement, discuss successes and challenges, and problem-solve as needed.
    • Monitor staff performance and ensure documentation of work within project tools and resources.
    • Co-facilitate quarterly support and information calls with administrative volunteer recruiters.

    Volunteer Support

    • Manage staff through the year-long recruitment, training, and support of administrative volunteer teams facilitating Girl Scouting for and in their community.
    • Create KPIs and goals, and drive behaviors and tactics based on customer service and member/volunteer support.
    • Ensure staff use the organization’s customer relationship management system (CRM) and additional programs to manage, support, and track member interactions.
    • Provide support for volunteer inquiries made via email, phone, and in person.
    • Support staff with organizational policy and procedure interpretation.
    • Support staff as they facilitate conflict resolution and step into the mediation process when escalation is needed.
    • Co-facilitate quarterly support and information calls with administrative volunteer area managers.
    • Attend volunteer meetings/events monthly to promote staff accessibility and foster and maintain trust with volunteers.

    • A satisfactory combination of work and educational experience or a bachelor’s degree.
    • At least three (3) years of experience in recruiting and managing volunteers, recruitment and/or sales, community development, including school partnerships, supervising multiple staff, and budget management. Nonprofit work preferred.
    • Strong leadership skills using collaborative management techniques.
    • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, small group discussion leading, one-on-ones, and phone and email communication.
    • Ability to build and maintain partnerships both internally and externally.
    • Excellent customer service.
    • Attention to detail, highly organized, and able to manage time and prioritize.
    • Ability to aggregate and analyze data.
    • Ability to work independently and in a group.
    • Creative problem-solver.

    • High computer and technological proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Available on some nights and weekends, able to travel to different council regions.

    The Details

    • Compensation – Exempt/salaried, starting at $56,000 - $67,000 annually, depending on experience. Plus, $2,600 annually for Spanish language skills at a conversational level or better.

    • Hours – Full-time, business hours, with some flexibility. Some evenings and weekends, and occasional overnight trips.
    • Location – This role requires some in-person meetings and events. Regular job duties can be performed remotely, in one of our Service Centers throughout Oregon, or in a hybrid setting based on your preference. You must live within the Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington service area.
