Membership Associate - Museum jobs in Lawrence, MA

The Hammond Castle Museum is looking for someone to join our dedicated team of associates in the Museum Shop. The Museum Shop Associate is the first point of contact for visitors in the museum. Candidates should feel comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment and be able to provide excellent customer service to visitors. Candidates with strong communication skills who can make customers feel welcome will stand out.

Responsibilities

• Courteously greet and assist museum guests.
• Process cash and credit card transactions and balancing cash drawers.
• Actively maintain the store appearance, keeping merchandise organized neatly and attractively, dusting, cleaning and maintaining the highest of visual presentation.
• Answer gift shop phone and assist callers as needed.
• Operate POS system (Veevart) run on iPad (10th gen)
• Answer visitors’ questions regarding the historic site, Gloucester and surrounding area, and other attractions in town in a positive and hospitable manner.
• Help the organization achieve its strategic objective to promote repeat visitation by sharing upcoming programs and events.
• Encourage visitors to support the organization through membership by mentioning the benefits.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting other departments with projects or tasks.

• Basic math skills including cash handling and balancing cash drawers.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
