Men's Athletics Director directs all facets of a university/college's men's athletic program, including intramural and intercollegiate sports. Manages the entire men's coaching staff. Also responsible for fundraising, publicity, ticket pricing and distribution, and purchase of new equipment. Additionally, Men's Athletics Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Men's Athletics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Men's Athletics Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Allan Hancock College is accepting applications for Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach/part-time faculty member. This part-time, faculty position is in the college’s Athletic/Kinesiology Department reporting to the Head Men’s Basketball coach, along with the Associate Dean/Athletic Director, Kinesiology, Recreation, & Athletics.
The incumbent assists with developing and coordinating the intercollegiate basketball program; trains and coaches the team in preparation for intercollegiate competition; keeps and maintains records and equipment as required; operates within the scope of athletic policies under the supervision of the Head Coach; recruits and evaluates prospective basketball student-athletes and encourages their enrollment at Allan Hancock College; and oversees the preparation of a competitive basketball schedule. This position requires days, evenings, or weekends. This position may be eligible to teach part-time and must meet minimum qualifications for a Kinesiology/Athletic faculty member. The anticipated start date is August 2024.
The incumbent should be available to perform athletic event staff responsibilities as needed, weekly, during various seasons of sport. Experience coaching competitive basketball, able to perform minimal administrative tasks. Eligible to drive campus vehicles.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for part-time, faculty:
Master’s degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education
OR
Bachelor’s degree in any of the above
AND
Master’s degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy OR the equivalent.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Practices run 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Monday – Friday with some Saturday practices and contests. Basketball Season begins in August and runs throughout the academic year, until May.
Athletic event staff responsibilities are in the evenings and on weekends per athletic contest schedules.
SALARY:
An assistant basketball coaching stipend of $15,000 to cover intercollegiate season from August to May.
The athletic event staff hourly rate is $19.34 (program assistant III).
Part-time faculty assignments are compensated at the part-time faculty, hourly rates, which are publicized on the part-time faculty salary schedule.

Lecture Rate: $57.72 to $77.18 per hour depending upon education and experience
Lab Rate: $50.28 to $67.20 per hour depending upon education and experience
