Mental Health Technician observes and assists assigned mental health patients and helps with daily living activities, therapeutic activities, and socialization. Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment in the psychiatric unit and to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Being a Mental Health Technician attends and participates in group therapy, in-service education, and staff meetings. Records information about patients including vital signs, weight, and demeanor. Additionally, Mental Health Technician may communicate with the patient's family as needed. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a registered nurse (rn) or other supervisor. The Mental Health Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. This position involves the provision of an array of training, support and ADL's and conducted within the community setting. Support specialists are responsible for all client related documentation and reports as well as the development and implementation of treatment goals and objectives. Support specialists are required to provide their own transportation but are reimbursed monthly stipend for the use of their vehicles. On a monthly basis, 95.0% of the services provided are to be in the form of direct involvement with client. The remaining time will be utilized for service coordination and administrative duties. Position reports directly to Clinical Supervisor. You must maintain a mobile telephone and a DMV license.
