Mental Health Technician observes and assists assigned mental health patients and helps with daily living activities, therapeutic activities, and socialization. Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment in the psychiatric unit and to ensure the safety of patents and staff. Being a Mental Health Technician attends and participates in group therapy, in-service education, and staff meetings. Records information about patients including vital signs, weight, and demeanor. Additionally, Mental Health Technician may communicate with patients family as needed. Typically requires an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a registered nurse (rn) or other supervisor. The Mental Health Technician works under moderate supervision. Position Summary:
Deblin Health Concepts, LLC in Houston, TX is actively in search of a Male MHT. The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient observation, interaction and role modeling, in addition to providing safe passage of clients to and from the Acute Rehab Day Programs, Dr’s appointments, and pick up from hospitals when discharged.

Essential Job Duties and Percent of time:
20%: Obtain patient assignments in a timely manner. Responsible for acquainting him/herself with all pertinent facts pertaining to patient’s case (e.g., medications)
20% Assist with patient rounds and security checks and document client observation per assignments. Assignments as given are completed in a timely manner without reminders
10% Assist with nutritional care. Supervision of patients and monitoring in dining area until end of treatment day. (includes ordering food)
20% Transportation of patients to and from home and special Rehab Day Acute activities.
15% Assist program staff with activities and group therapy. Patient attendance is accounted for and supervision of patients is provided.
10% Manage crisis situations appropriately to provide intervention e.g., during suicidal gestures, assaultive behaviors, or other dangerous or inappropriate behaviors to avoid embarrassment to patient or prevent injury to self, others or property.
