Job Responsibilities/Primary Duties: Generates purchase orders in a cost effective manner from requirements submitted by Production Planning/Program Engineering; documents purchase orders, tracks and updates status of purchase order delivery. Works with Program Managers to evaluate the best bid among potential suppliers. Buyer is responsible for a specific set of commodities and is expected to manage the supply base for those commodities. Works with Quality Department to resolve non-conformance issues of parts and materials from suppliers and must coordinate with Financial Services to resolve invoice discrepancy issues. Coordinates with Quality regarding the management of suppliers to the Approved Supplier List. Processes quote requests for various Program proposals. Builds supplier relationships that result in improved deliveries, higher quality, and lower cost to programs.
Basic Qualifications: Must be a United States citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States (no sponsorship). Background Check/Credit check required. Must be able to pass Drug/Alcohol Test.
Education: College or above: Associates Degree in a business related or technical discipline or equivalent experience.
Related work experience required: 1 - 1 Years of experience in Electronics Purchasing/Supply Management/Procurement/Planning/Inventory control preferably in a DOD related supply chain procurement environment.
Special skills or abilities required: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to gain proficiency in CostPoint and other relevant FES software systems. Professionally communicates information and works in a positive, cooperative, and respectful manner to proactively respond to the needs of internal/external customers. Previous work experience to include demonstrated efficiency in team-building, and cross-functional interaction via written and verbal skills. Complies with assigned work schedules and overtime requests required to fulfill program and organizational objectives.
Additional Education/Experience/Skills preferred: Bachelors Degree in Business or Technical Discipline preferred. Previous in-depth experience with ERP Programs/Software.
