Reviews success of previous orders to determine extent to which inventory should be replenished. Being a Merchandise Buyer researches new trends or advances in product lines to make appropriate buying decisions. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Merchandise Buyer typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Merchandise Buyer typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Buyer is primarily responsible for determining what MRO items and services need to be purchased, sourcing, vendor selection and qualification, issuing and evaluating requests for quotation, and purchase order generation, purchase order follow-up to insure timely delivery to meet the internal requisition and regulatory requirements. In addition, the Buyer may be asked to assist in the follow-up and procurement of chemicals and/or packaging at the request of the Purchasing Manager. The Buyer operates under the direction of the Purchasing Manager.

AUTHORITY
This position reports to the Purchasing Manager.

CLASSIFICATION
This is a full-time, non-exempt role.
EDUCATION
College degree in business, purchasing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Experience working in a GMP environment preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem solving abilities
3 years’ experience in the purchasing & manufacturing industry preferred
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Good human relations and oral/written communication skills
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
Demonstrated ability to learn, follow and help refine procedures with minimal oversight
Strong analytical / problem solving skills
Self-starter with willingness to expand expertise and skill base
Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
