Merchandise Planner - Deli jobs in Schenectady, NY

Local Long Standing Deli looking for experienced line cook/counter help. Candidate must have prior experience in restaurant/ kitchen service and good customer service skills.

Duties Include:

• Stocks counters, display refrigerators, salad case and steam table neatly and accurately as per menu

• Ensures all display foods are merchandised attractively as per standards

• Displays food under appropriate hot or cold conditions as per standards

• Completes cold food preparation assignment in a timely fashion

• Maintains appropriate portion control and merchandising standards

• Maintains proper food handling, safety and sanitation standards

• Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service as assigned

• Cleans equipment and work station at end of each day to include mopping floors and washing dishes

• Greets customers in a courteous and timely fashion

• Applies knowledge of daily menu items, prices and store products and explains same to customers accurately

• Slices and serves products in a neat and attractive manner as per standards

• Informs cook in a timely manner when food quantities are low

• Relays relevant comments received from customers directly to manager

• Shovel and salt sidewalks and walkways as needed

• Adheres to all restaurant policies and procedures paying special attention to health and/or safety procedures• Reports problems or discrepancies to the management immediately

• Answers telephone and takes orders/ answers customer inquiries as needed

• Writes up orders accurately and prepares food requests promptly in accordance with customer requests.

• Receives and processes payments for purchases by operating cash register and provides customer with appropriate receipt for each transaction

• Obtains stock from storeroom by carrying and lifting to replenish supplies in store as needed** See Physical Requirements

• Unpacks deliveries to include lifting and carrying boxes and stocking in appropriate areas

• Adheres to all company policies and procedures paying special attention to health and/or safety procedures

• Slices meat and prepares and wraps sandwiches based on customer orders as directed

• Able to work as a team with other employees, take direction and step in to help in other areas of restaurant as needed

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and compute rate, ratio, and percent.

• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and use common sense to carry out simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

• Ability to multi-task and perform numerous functions in a quick and orderly fashion

.• Performs other related duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
