  • The Merchandise Planner is responsible for the systematic management of the inventory and sales of available products to increase sales at Batteries Plus. The Merchandise Planner will help position stores better by minimizing losses and drive through forecasting the future trends.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop monthly sales and inventory forecasts through management tools and demand forecasting to meet company goals
    • Plan and forecast for future merchandise buys based on historical buys, recurring buys and current inventory levels, including managing Open To Buy budgets.
    • Measure inventory levels and service performance though established KPIs.
    • Review stock to sales ratios, respond to changing sales trends, and ensure plan sales, plan markups, and plan markdowns are achieved by departments.
    • Establish, maintain and predict the exact demand and ensure that the products are delivered on time, avoiding shortages at the distributor or warehouse level, and instituting effective strategic plans for profitable liquidation.
    • Allocate merchandise to stores according to warehouse and store inventory levels and assist stores with merchandise transfers to fulfill stock needs.
    • Construct pre-season style plans and suggest flow forecasts and investment quantities.
    • Develop business plans and identify new opportunities by partnering with business leaders, with recommended go-forward business plans on risks and returns.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business or Retail/Merchandising
    • 3 or more years of related experience in Retail, Merchandise Planning, and/or Inventory Planning
    • Advanced knowledge and use of forecasting tools
    • Advanced excel skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Statistical analysis
    • Proven problem solving skills. Duties require considerable judgment to work independently to devise new or modify existing methods, processes, procedures or standards to meet requirements.
    • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a sense of urgency. Ability to independently handle multiple projects/tasks under general oversight. Able to plan, develop, and establish priorities to meet deadlines with good control and results. The capacity and desire to handle heavy workloads and extra hours when required in a fast paced, changing environment.
    • Proven ability to make presentations to senior management, groups of employees, or customers that may involve persuasion, and obtaining approvals. Responsibility to work autonomously and collaboratively with the ability to communicate concrete and abstract ideas effectively.
    • Ability to work with confidential data of major importance such as process, service and product costs which, if disclosed to outside contacts, might have significant external effect and/or be detrimental to the organization's interests.
