Responsible for reviewing stock to sales ratios, responding to changing sales trends, and ensuring plan sales, plan markups, and plan markdowns are achieved by departments. Being a Merchandise Planner, Sr. may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Merchandise Planner, Sr. typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Job Summary |
Senior planners are responsible for the overall financial direction of a category or department(s) with the goal of meeting/exceeding sales, margin and turn targets. Senior planners are primarily responsible for developing seasonal merchandise financial plans, developing, and managing the allocation strategy, and supporting the Buyer with a department(s) open to buy. Senior planners also work with Buyers in assortment and buy planning by facilitating layering of assortments and validating the integrity of initial allocation volumes. In-season, Senior planners provide in-depth analysis of product performance and make recommendations to maximize business opportunities. |
