Merchandiser merchandises products and implement merchandising plans in a retail environment. Works closely with store sales staff to improve the consumer buying experience by providing support for merchandising plans. Being a Merchandiser monitors inventories and sales and generates reports for product lines. Troubleshoots delivery or vendor issues and develop solutions to ensure product availability. Additionally, Merchandiser coordinates maintenance of pricing, markdowns, on-order, and merchandising guidelines and product knowledge information with sellers. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to manager. The Merchandiser occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. The Merchandiser’s primary responsibility is to enhance sales for each account by restocking all coolers and in-store space and displays in a manner that is attractive and pleasing to the retailer and the consumer. Other duties include storing reserve inventory in the proper designated area for later restocking; rotating products appropriately according to expiration date; and setting up and/or building new displays. This is very physical work requiring repetitive lifting, bending, walking, and stacking of beverage products on a daily basis, plus driving.
Merchandisers typically start their days from their homes and travel from account to account to perform their duties. We’re looking for a fast-paced self-starter who has strong attention to detail and the ability to learn and apply new skills. The Merchandiser is responsible for maintaining strong, productive relationships with all customers, so it’s a great job for a "people person. And, since the Merchandisers work independently most days, the ability to work effectively without close supervision is essential.
To qualify for this position, you’ll need:
Working conditions include exposure to fluctuations in temperature due to seasonal conditions and work inside coolers. The work requires frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting of beverage products, and the ability to drive.. Manual dexterity, coordination, and mobility are required. Qualified applicants must be able to lift up to 50 pounds easily and must be able to push/pull/manipulate loaded carts and dollies. This is a position that requires a high level of personal fitness to meet the physical demands of the job.
